Mission and History
It is the Mission of the Plymouth Concert Band to be a premier wind ensemble in the Twin Cities, to provide instrumental performance opportunities for adults seeking the development of musical expression, and to serve the cultural needs of the community by sharing the talents of local musicians through the presentation of various free concerts and events.
The Plymouth Concert Band was formed in 1998 as a concerted effort between the Plymouth Fine Arts Council and the Plymouth Park and Recreation Department. Articles and advertisements were placed in the local papers, city bulletins, and on cable television. The response was overwhelming and the Plymouth Concert Band was created. The band's debut concert was October 10th, 1998 in conjunction with the Plymouth on Parade celebration.
On May 3rd, 2008, the band celebrated its 10th anniversary with an celebratory concert. The band commissioned the piece Milestone by American composer Roshanne Eteady for this event, and the world premier performance of the piece was by the band at this concert. We hope you will join us as we continue into our second decade, either as a member of our group, or as an audience member at our concerts.
